The numbers we publish, and why

Most furniture listings tell you the width of the sofa. These are the measurements that actually decide whether you enjoy it.

Seat height: Floor to the top of the compressed cushion. Below 18 inches, most people over sixty push off with their arms. We build to 19–21.
Arm height and rigidity: Measured from the seat, with a note on what is underneath. Padding that gives way is the same as having no arm at all.
Seat depth: Front edge to the backrest. A deep seat looks generous and leaves shorter people with their feet off the floor. Ours run 20–22 inches.
Cushion density: 2.2 high-resilience foam throughout. Soft enough to be comfortable for an hour, firm enough to push against when the hour is up.
Frame warranty: Twelve years on every hardwood frame, registered automatically. Fabric and foam carry three.
